The House Of Representatives Encourages ICT Infrastructure Equity In The North Sulawesi Islands Region

JAKARTA - The Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) encourages even distribution of information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure in archipelagic areas in Indonesia. This is to support digital developments in the outermost regions or border areas, especially in the North Sulawesi region. This was said by Member of Commission I DPR RI Hillary Brigitta Lasut to be a resource person for Digital Literacy organized by the Directorate of Applications and Informatics of the Ministry of Communication and Information of the Republic of Indonesia in collaboration with Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives. The webinar carries the theme Digitional Development in the Islands Region virtually held in Jakarta, Wednesday. He said, Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives together with the Ministry of Communication and Information in collaboration work together to fight for supporting infrastructure for digital development in border areas and archipelago areas, namely in North Sulawesi (North Sulawesi). He sees that geographically it is not easy to flatten the technological infrastructure in areas consisting of small islands, remote islands, and islands bordering the Philippines, such as Sitaro area. Not infrequently communication companies refuse to invest in the field of ICT infrastructure (Technology, Information and Communication) in the border area, Hillary said in his statement, Friday, February 24. According to the legislator of the North Sulawesi Dapil, the state cannot ignore the potentials in border areas. Because, the state has a duty to have a sense of justice to develop border areas without hair, no matter how difficult it is the field.

Residents in border areas really miss getting a touch from the government through infrastructure development efforts by the central government and local governments, said the politician from the NasDem Party Faction. In this webinar, Hillary also hopes that the public will know about the potential development of digitalization in the archipelago. He also hopes that the younger generation can play an active role in the use of these infrastructures in helping all activities to be more effective and efficient.
