Perry Warjiyo Becomes A Candidate For The Governor Of BI, President Director Of BCA: He Deserves
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo has officially proposed the name Perry Warjiyo to return to his position as Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) for the next period.
Responding to Jokowi's decision, BCA President Director Jahja Setiaatmadja revealed that Perry is the most worthy person to occupy the position of number one in the seat of Indonesia's central bank.
According to him, as long as Perry takes the lead, Indonesian inflation tends to be controlled and liquidity can be managed properly.
"He has done his best. The exchange rate is under control, inflation is controlled and liquidity is well regulated and I think he deserves to continue his position as governor of BI," said Jahja who was met after opening the BCA Expoversary in Tangerang, Thursday, February 23.
Gubernur BI saat ini Perry Warjiyo, telah lima tahun menjabat dan akan memasuki masa repurna tugas pada Mei 2023.
According to Law Number 3 of 2004 concerning Amendments to Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 23 of 1999 concerning Bank Indonesia, BI candidates are proposed and then appointed by the President with the approval of the House of Representatives.
The President will propose a candidate for the Governor of BI who will then undergo a fit and proper test at Commission XI of the DPR before it is decided to be approved or not.
Previously, several names of candidates for the Governor of BI were widely circulated in the public, namely, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Deputy Senior Governor of BI Destry Damayanti, Chairman of the Destry Desayanti Despiration Insurance Corporation (LPS) Purbaya Yudhi Sadive, Chairman of Perbanas Kartiko Wirjoatmodjo, and incumbent Perry Warjiyo.
