Mitratel Acquires 997 Telecommunication Towers Owned By Indosat
JAKARTA - A subsidiary of PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (TLKM), PT Daya Mitra Telekomunikasi Tbk (MTEL) or Mitratel, acquired telecommunication towers owned by PT Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison Tbk (ISAT).
This will strengthen Mitratel's position as an independent tower provider.
The Main Director of Mitratel, Theodorus Ardi Hartoko, also known as Teddy, said that this collaboration can strengthen Mitratel's position as the largest independent and trusted owner of telecommunication towers in Southeast Asia.
"This collaboration strengthens Mitratel as the largest telecommunications tower owner in Southeast Asia," he said in a statement, Jakarta, Monday, February 20.
He said that the addition of 997 telecommunication towers strengthened the Mitratel ecosystem in the telecommunication tower business. As well as creating greater added value for all telecommunication operators.
"As well as accelerating growth opportunities for Mitratel tower collocation and supporting a series of Mitratel businesses for business development to become an end-to-end Digital Infrastructure Company," said Teddy.
Equally important, he said again, is that the acquisition is also an affirmation that Mitratel is a tower provider company that is independent and highly trusted by cellular operators in Indonesia.
Mitratel and Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH) signed a conditional sales purchase agreement (CSPA) for 997 telecommunication towers owned by IOH. The company's corporate action will add to Mitratel's assets and tenants, including IOH and tower tenants from other business partners.

Meanwhile, the transaction between Mitratel and IOH is projected to be completed in the first quarter of 2023. The agreement is believed to provide benefits for sustainable business growth for Mitratel and IOH.
“Mitratel seeks to become a Leading Sustainable Growth-oriented company. The CSPA agreement with IOH continues the inorganic growth in previous years," said Teddy.
In 2022, for example, Mitratel will acquire 6,088 telecommunication towers and 6,012 kilometers (km) of optical fiber. This acquisition is Mitratel's effort to strengthen its position as the main telecommunication infrastructure (tower and fiber) consolidator in Indonesia.
