The Indonesian Consulate General In Istanbul Is Looking For The Whereabouts Of A Contact-loss UII Lecturer
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Consulate General in Istanbul continues to conduct formal and informal communication with a number of authorities in the region to seek the whereabouts of Ahmad Munasir Rafie Pratama.
The lecturer at the Islamic University of Indonesia (UII) disappeared on the way after taking part in global mobility activities at the University of South-Eastern Norway (USN), Norway. Ahmad's whereabouts were unknown even though he was supposed to return to Indonesia via Istanbul, Turkey on February 12.
"The Indonesian Consulate General has contacted immigration and airport authorities to ask for a number of information that could be a clue to the possible whereabouts of the person concerned," said Indonesian Consul General Istanbul Imam Asyari in a written statement, Saturday, February 18.
In addition, the Indonesian Consulate General also moved by asking about Ahmad's whereabouts through a community node in Istanbul.
Furthermore, there are various speculations about Ahmad's disappearance, including the impact of the earthquake in Turkey. It's just that, Indonesian Ambassador to Turkey Lalu Muhammad Iqbal said it could not be ascertained.
The reason is that Ahmad's whereabouts are also not yet known whether in Istanbul or still in Oslo. Moreover, said Lalu, the earthquake also occurred on February 6 or 6 days before Ahmad disappeared.
Previously, UII had conveyed that a lecturer, Ahmad Munasir, had disappeared while abroad. This campus also tracks and coordinates with many parties.
"UII asks for prayers from all parties so that AMRP's whereabouts are immediately known in a healthy and good condition," said UII Chancellor Fathul Wahid in a statement received in Yogyakarta, Saturday.
Fathul explained that the visit to the Norwegian state campus was carried out by a team from UII Yogyakarta consisting of four people, including himself, Ahmad Munasir, and two other people.
The visit to Norway was to strengthen cooperation between UII Yogyakarta and USN Norway, with funding support from the European Union through the Erasmus+ scheme.
After a week of activities at USN since Sunday, February 5, the UII team then left Norway via Garrmoen Oslo Airport (Oslo Airport) on Sunday, February 12. The last Fathul and Ahmad encounters took place in Oslo on Saturday night.
According to the plan conveyed by Ahmad Munasir verbally, his return route to Indonesia is Oslo-Istanbul-Riyadh-Istanbul-Jakarta. Ahmad Munasir did not share his flight information in detail with his colleagues or his wife.
The last message sent to his wife, Ahmad also stated that he would soon board a plane from Oslo Airport. "Waiting for boarding," wrote the message his wife received.
