Acting Governor Of Papua Reminds Regional Heads To Maintain Security Ahead Of Elections

JAYAPURA - Acting Governor of Papua (Plh) Muhammad Ridwan Ruusukun reminded the heads of regions in eight regencies and one city in the province to maintain security stability ahead of the 2024 Elections in Cenderawasih Earth.

"KPU is in the socialization of the election stages, for this reason, regional heads are ready to follow directions because this is a national activity that must be carried out and run smoothly without any interruptions or obstacles," he said in Jayapura as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, February 16.

Ridwan invited all parties to jointly maintain security stability ahead of the elections and local elections so that the people's party can run as expected and produce the best leaders in districts, cities, and provinces, as well as presidents.

Ridwan also emphasized that the state civil apparatus (ASN) should not get involved in practical politics, because if this is found out, the Papua Provincial Government (Pemprov) will impose sanctions.

"I also appeal to all civil servants within the Papua Provincial Government not to get involved in practical politics and keep working to serve the community," he said.

Meanwhile, KPU commissioner Yulianto Sudrajat said that by launching the 2024 election procession on Tuesday 14 February 2023, as a symbol of the stages of the 2024 election, it will continue until the day of the election.

"We really hope that the holding of elections will really be supported by all elements of society, because Elections are essentially not only the responsibility of the KPU, but of all parties," he said.
