Residents Protested Bad Garbage Smell At Tambora Iron Bridge, West Jakarta Environment Sub-Department Deploys Trucks To Transport
JAKARTA - The West Jakarta Environment Agency (Jakbar LH Sub-agency) removed mountains of garbage on Inspeksi Street, Jembatan Besi, Tambora due to delays in handling from related parties.
"We picked it up this morning. We will immediately follow up on it," said West Jakarta Environment Sub-agency Head Slamet Riyadi in West Jakarta, reported by Antara, Thursday, February 16.
Slamet admitted that there was an obstacle when the truck was damaged, so it was too late to pick up the pile of garbage. Therefore, his party is now deploying another truck to transport the waste and take it to the Bantar Gebang Final Disposal Site (TPA), Bekasi City.
Furthermore, apart from being transported late, Slamet suspects that the cause of the accumulation of waste is that there is only one Temporary Disposal Site (TPS) in RW 02.
This makes other residents from outside the RW 02 area often throw garbage at the dump.
To anticipate that accumulation does not occur, his party ensures that it will not be too late to pick up the trash.
"As for the technical aspects of waste disposal, it will be arranged by the RW, our job is only to transport it," he explained.
Previously, several residents had complained about the pile of garbage in the area because, during the past two days, trash had spilled onto the streets. An unpleasant smell often comes from the TPS so residents who are active in the location feel uncomfortable.
"Previously, I haven't picked up the trash for two days. Until the trash piles up on my plants," said a resident in the area, Aam.

In addition, the unpleasant odor from the garbage caused many insects such as flies to fly around the TPS, which disturbed residents.
"We like to be visited when we pass here. The problem is that the trash reaches the streets," said another resident, Andrian.
