Frisian Flag With 12 Thousand Cows, ID FOOD Prepares Fields For Feed
JAKARTA - The Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) has appointed a Food Holding BUMN or ID FOOD to cooperate with Frisian Flag regarding investment in cattle or dairy farming in Indonesia.
ID FOOD Director Frans Marganda said that not only did his party receive the assignment, but also PTPN. Frans said, PTPN will prepare land for its livestock.
Meanwhile, continued Frans, ID FOOD will be tasked with preparing animal feed. Like elephant grass and corn.
Frans said, his party is also preparing land to plant commodities that feed the cows.
The roles of each PTPN are the ones that own the land. Then
"Fressian Flag as an off taker of milk products, we will provide feed later," he told VOI, written Thursday, February 9.
Regarding this collaboration, said Frans, the cow seeds will be sent directly from the Netherlands.
The target is that the cattle population is around 4,000 lactating cows. The seeds as far as I know can be sent from the Netherlands, it can be from Australi. But the seeds, Dutch cow seeds," he said.
Furthermore, Frans explained that related to the farmland, it is planned to use PTPN's land in the West Java region.
"If I'm not mistaken, the land is in Gunung Mas, it has PTPN," he explained.
Frisian Flag Will Investment 12,000 employee
As previously reported, SOE Minister Erick Thohir said state-owned companies are ready to optimize industry and cooperation in the food sector. This step is to realize Indonesia's food sovereignty.
Furthermore, Erick explained that SOEs have also started actively inviting cooperation to secure the supply of main foodstuffs.
For example, said Erick, making cooperation related to stunting reduction programs in Indonesia, including investment in the cattle industry, both the meat processing industry and milk production.
"This is what we have to intervene for. One of them is how we work together to see the shuttle, beef industry business, both meat and milk," said Erick after attending the Mandiri Investment Forum (MIF) in Jakarta, Wednesday, February 1.
Specifically for the development of the dairy industry, said Erick, concrete steps taken include holding talks with Dutch milk company Frisian Flag. Erick said this was one of the crucials, considering that 80 percent of the total national milk consumption came from imports.
During a visit to the Netherlands, Erick said Frisian Flag wanted an investment of 8,000 to 12,000 cows. According to him, this must be encouraged so that food sovereignty can be achieved.
"So food sovereignty must also be considered," he said.
