When Black Sabbath Music Is Married To Balet
JAKARTA - A ballet soundtrack with Black Sabbath music will premiere in September at the drama theater.
Led by directors of Birmingham Royal Ballet, Carlos Acosta and Ballet Now, this ballet will include eight Black Sabbath songs specially recast plus new music inspired by the British heavy metal legend.
Songs selected include:
* Paranoid (paranoid album, 1970); * Iron Man (Parnoid album, 1970); * War Pigs (paranoid album, 1970); * Black Sabbath (Black Sabbath album, 1970); * Solitude (Student Of Reality album, 1971); * Orkhid ( Master Of Reality album, 1971); * Sunrise's Lagoon (vol album 4, 1972) * Sabbath
This new scoring will be compiled by Tony Award winners Christopher Austin, Marko Nyberg and Sun Keting.
His creative team involved principal choreographer Pontus Lidburg, additional choreographer Ra shotl Reinoso and Cassi Abranches, designer Alexandra Arrechea, illumination designer Kieron Johnson and dramaturg Richard Thomas.
I look forward to seeing how all this is developing! Black Sabbath has always been an innovator and is never predictable, and it will come more than unpredictable like this!" said Tony Iommi, co-founder of Black Sabbath, lead guitarist and co-author of the song, quoted from Blabbermouth, Thursday.
"I never imagined pairing Black Sabbath with ballet, but it sounds good! I've met Carlos (Acosta) several times and his enthusiasm is contagious. I performed with some dancers at the opening ceremony Commonwealth Games and they had great energy, so I'm happy to be on the trip with them and see you on the other side!"
The Ballet will take place from September 23-30, with the next date to be announced in fall 2023 at Plymouth Theater Royal and Sadler's Wells in London.
