The NTT Bawaslu Is Threatened With 'Lumph' If Honorary Employees Are Dismissed, Governor Viktor Promises To Immediately Conduct Discussions
The East Nusa Tenggara Provincial Government is trying to make honorary officials in the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) in districts/cities in the province continue to actively carry out their duties in supporting the preparation for the 2024 simultaneous elections."The NTT government will immediately discuss with the district/city governments in NTT regarding the presence of honorary workers in Bawaslu, so that they continue to work to make the election a success later," said East Nusa Tenggara Provincial Governor Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat in Kupang, Antara, Tuesday, February 7.Laiskodat said this was related to the request of the Head of the NTT Bawaslu Province, Nonato Da Purificaao Sarmento, so that the government would not dismiss honorary employees in Bawaslu because it could interfere with the stages of the 2024 General Election. The government fully supports Bawaslu's performance in the succession of the 2024 simultaneous elections. His party immediately coordinated with the acting Mayor of Kupang and regents throughout NTT to support Bawaslu's performance, in addition to jointly providing solutions to the problems or various obstacles faced."We will coordinate with the acting Mayor of Kupang and regents throughout NTT, related to the transfer of contract workers in each region, considering that these workers are still very much needed," said Laiskodat. He said the NTT Provincial Government is trying to extend the working period of contract workers or honorariums in each region, so that the process of holding elections including the supervision process does not stop in the middle of the road. However, the contract workers are needed to support the optimization of the performance of the KPU and Bawaslu in the success of the election later.Meanwhile, the Head of the NTT Bawaslu, Nonato Da Purificaao Sarmento, said that one of the obstacles faced by Bawaslu was ahead of the general election process, namely related to the transfer of employees and the position of honorary staff from the provincial level to the sub-district level in various regencies/cities in NTT."Regarding the ASN mutation, we have asked the Governor of NTT to pay attention to friends at the Bawaslu secretariat in districts/cities throughout NTT, so as not to be moved first, considering that it will affect the performance that has been built so far," said Sarmento.Referring to the Decree of the Ministry of Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform, all honorary employees will be dismissed throughout Indonesia as of November 28, 2023."We really hope that the governor can consider this, considering that it will greatly affect the implementation of the election later. At least there is an effort from provincial and district/city governments throughout NTT, to maintain these contract workers, until the election is over," said Nonato.
