Kemarau Arrived In Pekanbaru, BPBD Riau-BMKG Improved Coordination Of Karhutla Mitigation
RIAU - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) estimates that the dry season will arrive in Pekanbaru this month. A number of mitigation measures have begun to be drawn up by the local Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD).
"For that, we will carry out mitigation of potential disasters according to the direction of the acting mayor, so that later we can be better prepared in dealing with disasters," said Pekanbaru City BPBD Chief Executive Zarman Candra in Pekanbaru, Riau, Friday, February 3, quoted from Antara.
In addition to mitigating, Zarman said, his party will also increase coordination with the Riau BPBD and BMKG. This step is to respond to the situation and conditions entering the dry season.
Zarman said the dry season is very prone to forest and land fires or forest and land fires in Pekanbaru. He also admitted that BPBD will increase supervision in the field to prevent disaster events.
"Then to the residents, we urge them not to clear land by burning it," he said.
Previously, the alert status for an emergency disaster of natural disasters in the atmosphere (meteorology), water (hydrology), or ocean (oceanography) or hydrometeorology set in Pekanbaru City since November 10, 2022 has ended Tuesday, January 31.
Zarman said, while holding the status of Hydrometeorological Emergency Disaster Alert, several disasters occurred, such as floods, landslides and strong winds which caused a number of protective trees to fall.
The flood disaster occurred and submerged residential areas in the Bukit Raya, Sail and Tenayan Raya sub-districts. There were 341 residents who were affected because of the high intensity of rain.
"Then there was one landslide incident in Bencah Lesung Village, Tenayan Raya District. There was one resident's house that was carried away by the landslide," he said.
