Thailand Masters 2023: Leo/Daniel Has NOT Yet Dammed, 2 Indonesian Men's Doubles Are Getting Closer To The Final
JAKARTA - The men's doubles pair Leo Rolly Carnando / Daniel Marthin defeated Lee Jhe-Huei / Yang Po-Hsuan to get tickets to the last eight of Thailand Masters 2023.
The 2023 Indonesia Masters champions stopped the Chinese Taipei pair from playing two games 21-13 and 22-20 at Nimibutr National Stadium, Bangkok, Thailand, Thursday, February 2 evening WIB.
The two pairs previously met twice in 2019 and 2021, respectively. The first meeting took place at the Vietnam International Challenge, following the second at the Denmark Open.
On those two occasions, Leo/Daniel were made to suffer three games in a row and two games. Thus, this victory made the Indonesian representatives cut their winning record to 1-2.
Leo/Daniel are the second men's doubles to reach the last eight of this Super 300 event. Before them, the men's doubles' first quarter-final ticket was secured by Pramudya Kusumawardana/Yeremia Rambitan.
Pram/Yere escaped after winning two straight games 22-20 and 21-13 over the host representative Peeratchai Sukphun/Pakkapon Teeraratsakul.
"Earlier we started playing too slowly. That's why the match went tight in the first game, but at the critical points we were able to calm down and finally won," said Pram after the match.
After playing tight in the second game, Pram/Yere also took the initiative to appear more pressing their opponents in the second game from the start. As a result, the opponent made many mistakes so that he paved the way for Indonesia.
"Kunci kemenangan hari ini, kami bermain cepat dan terus menekan lawan. Tadi lawan juga banyak melakukan kesalahan sendiri. Jadi kami menjadikan itu sebuah sebuah kesempatan untuk meraih banyak poin," ia menambahkan.
Before the two pairs, victory was also secured by Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja, Akbar Bintang Cahyono/Marsheilla Gischa Islami, Zasetelahno Sumanti/Hediana Julimarbela, and Amri Syahnawi/Winny OktAVina Kandow.
Meanwhile, representatives of Indonesia who have been confirmed to be eliminated are Meilysa Trias Puspita Sari/Rachel Allessya Rose, Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati, Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi, and Chritian Adinata.
