Iran's UN Ambassador Calls Israel Behind Drone Attack on Isfahan Arsenal
JAKARTA - Preliminary investigations have revealed that Israel was responsible for a drone attack on an weapons storage facility in Isfahan last weekend, said Iran's ambassador to the United Nations.
"Initial investigations show that the Zionist regime is responsible, for the terrorist attack on the Defense Ministry workshop complex in the city of Isfahan and this regime's actions violate international law and are condemned," Saeed Iravani said in a letter to the UN Security Council, citing The National News, February 2.
Iranian authorities reported an "unsuccessful" drone strike late on Saturday, targeting the Defense Ministry's "workshop complex" in Isfahan province, home to the Natanz nuclear enrichment facility.
The anti-aircraft defense system destroyed one drone, while two others exploded according to the MoD, adding that there were no casualties and the damage inflicted on the site was relatively minor.
On Wednesday, Iran blamed "foreign security services" that train and arm Kurdish groups in Iraq, for carrying out the drone attack on weapons depots in Isfahan.
The Iraqi Kurdish autonomous region is known to host camps and rear bases operated by several Iranian Kurdish rebel groups, which Iran has accused of serving Western or Israeli interests in the past.
