Up Price, Bulog Ready To Flood Markets With 315,000 Tons Of Rice
JAKARTA - Perum Bulog has prepared 315,000 tons of rice to be circulated through market operations. The rice distributed is premium quality but at a lower price.
Buwi Waseso, the President Director of Perum Bulog, said that the government's rice reserves (CBP) are ready to be disbursed to markets to suppress the increase in rice prices that are now happening in various regions.
"CBP, which we are ready to distribute 315,000 tons, will soon be lowered for market operations. But we still have imported reserves. We will also deploy it," he said at the State Palace in Jakarta, Tuesday, January 31.
Buwas, Budi Waseso's nickname, explained that the rice to be distributed is premium quality. Buwas said, Bulog will sell it at a price of Rp. 8,300 per kilogram (kg).
"What we are lowering is rice, including imported rice which is premium quality. But we still sell it for Rp. 8,300," he said.
Furthermore, Buwas said, if the public finds a price above the price set, then there will be price management.
"If there is rice that is expensive. So that means there is a game there, because of what? This rice is premium rice, not medium rice, we sell it for Rp. 8,300," he said.
Even so, Buwas said that his party would cooperate with the Food Task Force and Food Station to carry out joint surveillance.
The reason is, the rice that Bulog will sell is premium rice.
"We will participate together. If not (supervised), there will be hoarding, buildup, because once again this rice is premium rice," he said.
