Launching CryptoPotato, El Salvador's Bitcoin City project is the most prominent among 700 proposals. The jury underlined its innovative interior style, while the beautiful nature and nearby volcanoes also contributed to its success. They also highlighted the work of Mexican architect Fernando Romero who designed it.

The city of Bitcoin will be built in the southeastern part of the Latin American country, close to the two largest volcanoes in the country, Conchagua and Tecapa. The Romero team said that this future metropolitan city will be "efficient and sustainable" and will use geothermal energy from the volcano to drive it.

The city will use bitcoin as its currency that can provide certain monetary advantages for its residents. "This new public space will be the culmination of decades of research on what humans need to live well in an anti-inflationary economy," explained the architect. Romero designed an urban area in a circle so he could represent the bitcoin logo if viewed from above.

President Nayib Bukele has presented the Bitcoin City project in 2021. However, due to the crypto market experiencing shocks in 2022, the government has postponed the construction of the project until 2023.

El Salvador is the first country in the world to adopt Bitcoin as its official medium of exchange. They are also building the largest animal hospital in El Salvador from Bitcoin mining proceeds. It doesn't stop there, the government of El Salvador is also building various educational centers for free for its people who want to learn digital assets.
