Jajal Kereta Panoramic, Menhub Express The Possibility Of Increasing The Number Of Trains

JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi together with the management of PT Kereta Api Indonesia tested the Panoramic Train with the Gambir Station route. The panoramic train is a train with special specifications to enjoy the panorama for the first time in Indonesia.

The Minister of Transportation said that this ketera has the potential to be developed because it gives a different sensation to its passengers.

"I think the number of trains and routes can be increased later because of the high public interest in this train," said the Minister of Transportation in Jakarta, Saturday, January 28.

He added, with the sensation of seeing the scene, people do not need to go abroad to enjoy the Panoramic Train service, including the United States, Japan, and Switzerland.

"Currently we already have a panoramic train like those abroad. So don't go all the way to Switzerland. This is a good innovation from PT KAI," said the Minister of Transportation.

The Panoramic train has a very large window on both sides and the glass roof extends from front to back which can be opened and closed automatically.

"This gives a different sensation because it can enjoy the scenery along the way," said the Minister of Transportation.

The Minister of Transportation revealed that after being launched in December 2022, the Panoramic Railway received considerable enthusiasm from the public using rail services. According to the Minister of Transportation, this train has the potential to continue to be developed.

The Panoramic train was tested on December 24, 2022, which was assembled on an Additional Taksaka Train trip (Gambir-Yogyakarta pp). In addition to having a larger window, this train also has a number of other facilities such as: comfortable chairs, extensive toilets and automatic sensors, televisions, special baggage shelves, food, beverages, snacks, and blankets.

From the probationary period of the operation, PT KAI received a number of inputs from customers regarding the step to improve the train service so that it was temporarily suspended from its operation.

One of the inputs from the user is the reduction in the number of passenger seats in each carriage from 46 seats to 38 seats, so that all passengers can have the same experience in enjoying the trip.

Meanwhile, to ensure safety aspects from the Panoramic Train, the Ministry of Transportation through the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) has carried out a series of tests both static and dynamic. The tests carried out include dimensional testing, facilities limiting space, weight, braking, crackdown, loading, air circulation, temperature, noise, light intensity and leakage. Based on the tests carried out, two Panoramic Train units have passed the test.

Based on information from PT KAI, the Panoramic Train is planned to be operated again at the weekend in February 2023. This train will be collected at the Argo Parahyangan (Gambir-Bandung pp) and Argo Wilis (Bandung - Surabaya Gubeng pp) passenger trains.

Argo Parahyangan Panoramic tariffs are IDR 350,000 and Argo Wilis Panoramic IDR 1,120,000, with a train capacity of 38 seats. Tickets can be ordered on the KAI Access application, the KAI website, and all other official KAI ticket sales channels.
