YOGYAKARTA - The government and the DPR have determined the cost of the Hajj (Bipih) paid by the pilgrims this year. Then what is the amount and how different is the cost of Indonesian Hajj and other countries?

Launching from the Ministry of Religion's website, Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas said the average hajj rate in Indonesia was IDR 39,886,009. This was notified after a Working Meeting with Commission VIII of the DPR RI, in Senayan. "The cost of the pilgrimage or the cost paid directly by the pilgrims on average per congregation is agreed at IDR 39,886,009," said the Minister of Religion, Wednesday, 13/4/2022).

"This includes flight costs, some accommodation costs in Mecca and Medina, living costs, and visa fees," he continued.

Bipih is one part of the Hajj Implementation Rate (BPIH), while another part of BPIH is the health protocol tariff which this year was agreed to be worth IDR 808,618.80 per congregation.

The third part of BPIH is the tariff sourced from the value of the financial benefits of Hajj which amounted to Rp. 41,053,216.24 per congregation. So the entire BPIH this year is Rp. 81,747,844.04 per congregation.

Saudi Arabia

Hajj rates in Saudi Arabia vary, ranging from the cheapest, SAR 3,000 (Rp 11,478,858) to the most expensive, the price of SAR 11,890 (Rp 45,494,541).

India

Although close together, the rates for Hajj and India and Pakistan are different, this is also the case with the regulations in force in these two countries.

The price of Hajj rates in India is also different, depending on the package taken where the price ranges from Rs. 5,255,000 to Rs. 3,75,000 (around Rp. 99,012,952 to Rp. 70,723,537) per person to stay for 14 to 36 days.

Pakistan

Meanwhile in Pakistan, prices will differ depending on where the prospective pilgrims come from, whether they are from north or south of Pakistan.

The average price for northern Pakistanis is 255,271 rupees (IDR 20,279,309) and around 246,271 rupees (IDR 19,564,328) for southern Pakistan.

How much does Malaysian Hajj cost?

Overall, the overall cost of Hajj rates in Malaysia and Indonesia is relatively the same and is in the range of Rp. 100 million. Malaysian hajj costs are slightly larger, 1.96% more expensive than Indonesia if Indonesia applies an input scheme in 2023, which is at Rp. 98.89 million.

Why is the cost of Hajj so expensive?
