JAKARTA - The Minister of Trade, Zulkifli Hasan, said that the prices of basic needs, especially in Medan City and its surroundings, were stable. In fact, basic needs' price tends to be cheaper.
Meanwhile, the supply is sufficient after Christmas and New Year (Nataru) 2023.
This was conveyed by Zulhas, Zulkifli Hasan's nickname when visiting the MMTC Raya Market.
During the visit, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir and Inspector General of the Ministry of Trade Didid Noordiatmoko were also present.
“We reviewed the MMTC Market today. From this review, we find basic need prices are stable and supply is available. In fact, the prices are cheap here. Please buy," said the Minister of Trade Zulhas in an official statement, Wednesday, January 18.
Zulhas said, at the Christmas and New Year 2023 moment, the price of basic needs is stable and the available supply is sufficiently maintained, among others, through controlling regional inflation which drives trade agencies in the regions.
In addition, he said, efforts were also made to control regional inflation by optimizing the regional revenue and expenditure budget (APBD) for transportation subsidies and low-cost markets, as well as going down to markets and distributors to ensure smooth logistics.
Based on monitoring results at Pasar Raya MMTC today, the price of broiler chicken eggs was recorded at IDR 28,800 per kg, curly red chilies at IDR 31,000 per kg, red cayenne peppers at IDR 32,000 per kg, red onions at IDR 35,000 per kg, and garlic. IDR 21,000 per kg.
Zulhas ensured that the government will continue to monitor stock availability and basic needs prices post-Christmas and New Year 2023 and ahead of the 2023 fasting month momentum.
