The Central Statistics Agency stated that throughout 2022 there has been an increase in Indonesia's exports to various countries outside of the main market so far.
Head of BPS Margo Yuwono said that so far Indonesia's traditional market share for exports includes the United States, China, India, and Japan.
Previously in 2021 there were 56 countries (not the main market) that only contributed less than 1 million US dollars. However, in 2022 Indonesia's exports to these countries increased impressively," he told reporters on Monday, January 16.
According to Margo, the Indonesian market has expanded to several regions, such as South Asia, Africa, to the Caribbean region.
"In the first place there was Bhutan whose exports rose 67.3 million US dollars with electric machinery and equipment as well as its parts (HS 85) and vehicles and parts (HS 87)," he said.
Second, continued Margo, was Botswana with an increase of 3.7 million US dollars. Then, Chad's country in Africa, which rose 1.4 million US dollars, Aruba rose 1.1 million US dollars, and Virgin Islands, which rose 820.00 US dollars.
"This export market expansion is expected to continue so that it can increase domestic production and strengthen the national economy," he stressed.
On this occasion, Margo also revealed that Indonesia's total exports in 2022 amounted to 291.9 billion US dollars. Meanwhile, imports were recorded at 237.5 billion US dollars.
This incision made RI managed to achieve a trade balance surplus of US$54.4 billion and at the same time extend the surplus record in 32 consecutive months since May 2020.
