The Emergency Response Status Of Social Conflict In Kariuw Was Extended Post-conflict On Haruku Island
MALTENG - The emergency response status of social conflict in Kariuw Country with Pelauw Country on Haruku Island, Central Maluku Regency (Malteng) was extended.
The determination is based on the Decree of the Regent of Malteng Number 360-96 of 2023 concerning the Determination of the Tenth Extension of the Status of Emergency Response to Social Conflict Disasters between the Land of Kariuw and the Land of Pelauw.
In that decision, the emergency response status is intended to fulfill the basic needs of the Kariuw refugees who have returned after the social conflict on Haruku Island since January 2022. This includes maintaining conduciveness on Haruku Island, especially Pelauw and Kariuw Country.
"The government of Central Maluku Regency remains consistent and optimistic in handling the repatriation of the residents of Kariuw. Marasabessy said that the handling of the repatriation of Kariuw residents to his country as part of the resolution of social conflicts between Kariuw and Pelauw Country has continued to be a concern for the government, both by the central government, the Maluku Brovinsi Government and the Central Maluku Regency Government itself. "People are expected to be patient and refrain from the process of resolving disputes that take place regarding the rights of the people of the two countries," asked Marasabessy.
Based on data from the post for handling the repatriation of Kariuw residents, based on a report from the Kariuw State Government, it is known that on January 10, 2023, there were 12 heads of families and 19 people who increased back to Kariuw.
With details of eight families with 10 people returning from Ambon, one family head with one soul returns from Papua, one family head with one soul returns from Seram Island, two families with seven people returning from Aboru Country.
Overall, the total number of Kariuw residents who have returned to Kariuw Country from 19 December 2022 to 10 January 2023 is 213 families with 644 people.
While the kariuw residents who have not returned to Kariuw at this time, namely in Aboru Country there are 17 families consisting of 64 people, on Seram Island there are 15 families with 47 Jiwa, on Saparua Island there are 25 families with 75 people, On Ambon Island there are 75 families with 401 people.
"Handling the repatriation of Kariuw residents in order to fulfill their basic needs also continues to be the concern of the Central Maluku Regency Government," said Marasabessy.
Until January 11, 2023, Marasabessy continued, services in order to fulfill basic needs carried out by the Kariuw residents' repatriation handling team are health services, water fulfillment services and other infrastructure, as well as consumption services.
Health services by the Central Maluku District Health Office through the Pelauw Health Center which opens services at the Kariuw Health Post, serves 5 cariu residents with diagnostics, three people have upper respiratory tract infections (Ispa), one person is diagnosed with abandel and one person is abscessing.
"With the issuance of decision Number 360-96 of 2023, health services to the community will continue with the service center at the Health Service Post in Kariuw," he said.
Furthermore, said Marasabessy, the PUPR Office of Central Maluku Regency has also continued to complete five drilling wells and clean water storage towers.
Then the plan is to dig two more drilling wells to meet clean water needs. The service also includes distribution of clean water to residents using tank cars that have been operating since December 2022.
"The PUPR Service has also prepared street lighting that has been installed by the Haruku Island branch PLN, facilitate the installation of electricity networks in 41 cariuw residents' houses and the provision of installation installations in family tents and multipurpose tents," he said.
"It is planned that tomorrow a temporary bed pad will be prepared for the tents that have been installed," added Marasabessy.
Meanwhile, public kitchen services centered behind the Eben-Haezer Church are still facilitated by the Central Maluku district Social Service.
