Prosperous Women Not Like In The Past, Megawati: Even Though I If I WANT To Be Made An Example, I Can Do It

JAKARTA - The general chairman of the PDI-P (PDIP) Megawati Soekarnoputri feels that the current strength of women is still inferior to women in the struggle era. This condition surprised him.

"Cantitatively, qualitatively, why are our women not like in the past? During the struggle period, I myself was confused. What's wrong?" Megawati said during the PDIP 50th Anniversary commemoration at JiExpo Kemayoran, South Jakarta, Tuesday, January 10.

He said women in the country needed role models. Many figures whose actions are unquestionable so that they can be an example to be imitated.

Megawati also admitted that she could be a mirror for women in Indonesia. However, she is still a sanction. According to her, the women are still not united in working together.

"Even though I myself want to be used as an example, right. Like an example I said that, yes. But don't just use it. Many women are like me, you know. These women must move forward together. This is the modern century," said Megawati.

For example, in the field of arts and culture, Megawati assesses that women in Indonesia are still marginalized. Likewise at the level of getting knowledge and education.

"She [the woman] herself, has not felt as I said, self-respect, that she has the same strength [with men]," said Megawati.
