Delman In Monas Areas Is Not Prohibited, But Limited Operational And Functional Hours
JAKARTA - The Central Jakarta City Government (Pemkot) has denied the ban on wagon operations in the National Monument (Monas) area, Central Jakarta. However, the City Government only regulates Delman's operating hours in the Monas area because it is a tourist mode for visitors.
"Actually, there is no prohibition on wagons at Monas and Jalan Medan Merdeka, but only there needs to be arrangements," said Acting Deputy Mayor of Central Jakarta, Iqbal Akbarudin when confirmed, Monday, January 9.
Iqbal said that the Central Jakarta City Government issued a policy of only being allowed to operate in the Monas area every Saturday and Sunday.
"The length of the wagon operation can only take 8 hours. We also provide opportunities for residents who travel from Jakarta and outside to take advantage of the wagon on Saturdays and Sundays," he said.
According to Iqbal, wagons are no longer classified as transportation, but are still used as tourist vehicles.
Therefore, the Central Jakarta City Government regulates the feasibility of wagons so that they can operate for the public, in terms of horse health, to the safety of trains or carts to ensure the safety of users.
In the new provisions, wagons can only operate for eight hours so that the horses are not too tired. In addition, the wagon cart can only be climbed by four people and one coachman.
"The provision is that they operate for eight hours and the carrying capacity of these four people becomes part of the supervision of officers in the field, so the burden of the horse is not too heavy," he said.
In addition, outside the Monas and Jalan Medan Merdeka areas, wagons are also prohibited from crossing MH. Thamrin Street, Sudirman Street, and HI Roundabout.
Previously, it was reported that the ban on traditional horse wagon operations in the National Monument (Monas) area, Central Jakarta, was again discussed in early 2023.
Even the coachmen's coachmen complained about the ban by the Central Jakarta City Government (Pemkot).
"We, the coachmen at Monas, are ready to be fostered by the Central Jakarta City Government but are not ready to destroy it," said the coordinator of the Monas area's wagon coach, Nanang, to reporters.
Nanang said that he and dozens of other coachmen had long made a living for families in the Monas area. If there is a problem with horse droppings that are said to disturb the public or road users, he is ready to find a solution.
