Floods In Semarang And Demak, BRI Ensures That Its Banking Services Remain Normal
JAKARTA PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BRI) distributed disaster response assistance for flood-affected communities in Semarang and Demak earlier this year.
BRI Corporate Secretary Oryza Gunarto said that contributing to helping the surrounding community is proof of the company's concern for the current disaster.
The high rainfall in early 2023 in several areas in Central Java caused several areas to be flooded. Through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), BRI Cares responded quickly to ease the burden on residents in Semarang and Demak," he said in a press statement on Sunday, January 8.
According to Oryza, the company distributed a number of items that were considered important, such as ready-to-eat food packages, rice, oil, eggs, instant noodles, blankets, and medicines.
It was stated that the assistance was distributed by BRIlian (BRI workers) through the closest work unit to the disaster area spread across several areas of Semarang including in Tambakrejo, Bandarharjo, and Meteseh (Tembalung) Villages.
"Meanwhile, in Demak Regency, aid in the form of hundreds of ready-to-eat food (rice boxes) is distributed in Gebang Village (Kec Bonang) and Loireng Village (SAYung District)," he said.
Oryza added that he continues to collaborate with all parties to work hand in hand to restore existing conditions.
"Through this opportunity, we can convey that BRI's work and operations units in the Semarang and Demak areas continue to operate normally. Banking services continue to run normally to support community economic activities. We still urge the public to remain careful following the BNPB's appeal or local authorities," he concluded.
