Is COVID-19 Vaccination Important For Toddlers And Children? This Is A Professor's Explanation
JAKARTA - It is said that COVID-19 in Indonesia is under control. However, the vaccination program is still being encouraged so that there will be no more spikes.
One of the things that is of concern is vaccination of toddlers and children.
Director of Postgraduates at YARSI University, Prof. Tjandra Yoga Aditama revealed, several important facts about vaccinating COVID-19 for toddlers and children.
He said there are several things that parents need to consider. "Scientificly, the COVID-19 vaccine clearly plays a role in preventing COVID-19," said Prof. Tjandra, as quoted by Antara, Saturday, January 7.
Prof. Tjandra said that COVID-19 has been proven to be able to attack children, although most patients only experience mild symptoms. However, there are also cases that suffer from severe symptoms and even die.
In addition, the scientific world also does not know how long-term impact COVID-19 will have on children.
"Although COVID-19 in most children is relatively mild, it can still infect people in their homes, including the elderly and comorbid," said Prof. Tjandra.
The CDC itself has recommended administering a COVID-19 vaccine for 6-month-old and booster babies for children over five who are eligible.
Currently the vaccines available to children are Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna.
