The tagged work will appear on text after the video posted, and the audience will be able to click on the link which then directs them to another page with information IMDb-powered about the title.
We are excited to welcome TikTok as the newest major company to rely on IMDb data to strengthen new experiences for their customers, said Nikki Santoro, IMDb's chief operating officer, in a statement given to the Hollywood Reporter.
According to Santoro, this innovative collaboration allows TikTok creators to showcase and share the films and shows they love, expand IMDb's mission further to help customers find and decide what to watch and listen to, wherever they are.
This partnership also allows TikTok to rely on the interest of its users in film and TV content. According to Grace Li, director of strategic partnerships on TikTok and parent company ByteDance, the platform has seen more than 25 billion combined views for videos tagged #FilmTok, #MovieTok, and #TVTok.
"As we continue to find new ways to enrich the TikTok experience, this new feature, developed in collaboration with IMDb, gives our community more opportunities to find, create and share the content they love," added Li.
