UFC Legend Desak McGregor Against Jorge Masvidal During Comeback
JAKARTA - Conor McGregor is set to return to the ring after spending the whole year 2022 without competing. To welcome him back to the ring, Michael Bisping urged McGregor to fight Jorge Masvidal.
McGregor has been out since July 2021 since suffering a serious leg injury. The unfortunate incident happened to him in the first round in his trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier.
The incident saw McGregor spend the whole of 2022 on his injury recovery process while making his Hollywood debut in the Roadhouse reboot. During that recovery period McGregor did not have much activity to make his weight grow.
This makes Bisping feel confident that McGregor's time in the lightweight is over. For Bisping it could also pave the way for McGregor to fight former welterweight title challenger Jorge Masvidal who also suffered three defeats.
(Jorge) Masvidal. Masvidal and Conor. Conor looks like a refrigerator that has been walking lately, Open Bisping in the Podcast quoted from The Sun, Thursday, January 5.
"He (McGregor) wants to fight in 185, right? He goes around calling himself a refrigerator. He doesn't look like he weighs 155 again or maybe he's different and he can't get his first fight (light class) back. The two of them have also lost in some recent fights."
"So in their careers, both of them slip a little bit, they've both gone off track. But as fans, their style will be an incredible fight," continued Bisping.
Masvidal was beaten twice by former champion Kamaru Usman in two title fights. In March, he also lost to his best friend who turned into arch-enemy Colby Covington and has not returned to Octagon.
Meanwhile, McGregor last year also revealed that he intends to return to welterweight. On his return he had planned to invite Michael Chandler as his leading opponent.
