DKI Provincial Government Anticipates Extreme Weather Equipment Up To IDR 14 Billion, Observers: Right For Urgeous Needs
JAKARTA - The DKI Provincial Government through the DKI Jakarta Bina Marga Office purchased new operational service equipment and vehicles (KDO) of up to Rp. 14 billion to anticipate the impact of extreme weather.
According to a public policy observer from Trisakti University, Trubus Rahadiansyah, it is natural for the DKI Provincial Government to spend a budget of up to tens of billions of rupiah. This is because flood prevention is an urgent program.
"I think this is appropriate because it is an urgent need. I see that this extreme weather must be anticipated by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government through treatment and this must be resolved together including human resources, budget, and the community," Trubus said when contacted, Thursday, January 4.
However, it's not enough there. The qualified equipment owned by the DKI Provincial Government should be used as initial capital to anticipate the impact of Jakarta's floods. In addition, the community also needs to be involved in collaboration in tackling floods.
"It is better to collaborate with the community. Otherwise, it will not even support the will of the community. The step is to educate the public that we already have tools used to work together in poor conditions due to this extreme weather," said Trubus.
Yesterday, the results of the procurement of services and KDO of the Bina Marga Office were handed over to the ranks to be used in anticipation of extreme weather to floods. The procurement of this work equipment was purchased from the DKI regional revenue and expenditure budget (APBD) for the 2022 fiscal year.
Head of the DKI Jakarta Highways Agency, Hari Nugroho, explained that the reason for the purchase of new tools and vehicles was because the old assets belonging to the unit were old and no longer optimal in carrying out their work.
"We haven't owned this equipment for a long time, it's been almost 10 years. We use a vehicle that was used in 2000. So (the old one) has expired," said Hari in East Jakarta, Wednesday, January 4.
With this new official equipment and vehicle, Hari said, the ranks of the DKI Jakarta Highways Agency can work on public facilities and infrastructure to anticipate the impact of extreme weather in Jakarta more optimally.
"So I need the task force speed to handle it with new cars, new technology. Of course, faster. This new equipment is still precision, so it's fast. Automatically with this new equipment, the handling will be faster," he said.
Specifically, controlling the impact of extreme weather such as floods, equipment and official vehicles will be used according to standard operating procedures (SOPs) for handling starting before, during, and after inundation.
The step taken before the inundation occurred was the DKI Jakarta Highways Service repairing the water lines that became the waterway into the drainage. When there was a puddle, the DKI Jakarta Highways Service Task Force took to the field.
Then, after the inundation occurred, the Bina Marga Service Task Force continued to go to the field to help accelerate the handling of repairing roads that had potholes due to inundation or flooding.
