In Collaboration With PLN, The NTB Provincial Government Formed NZE In 2050 By Building SPKLU To Using Biomass For PLTU
JAKARTA - The Provincial Government of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) has launched a Net Zero Emission (NZE) target in 2050, ten years faster than the national target. This acceleration was carried out by the NTB Provincial Government by cooperating with PT PLN (Persero) through a carbon emission reduction program.
The collaboration was marked by the signing of a joint agreement between PLN and the NTB Provincial Government on Tuesday 27 December. The form of collaboration includes the construction of a Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU), the development of New Renewable Energy (EBT) using biomass for coal replacement (Co-Firing) at Steam Power Plants (PLTU).
NTB Governor Zulkieflimansyah said this mutual agreement was a momentum for the province's NTB Province with the concepts of Green Tourism, Green Energy, and Green Industry.
"The presence of PLN brings a lot of progress in NTB so that PLN makes life better. I am very happy to partner with PLN because we have made a long journey with this first step," said Zulkieflimansyah.
Zulkieflimansyah is optimistic that the green energy concept will have a positive impact on the progress of NTB Province. He believes, in the not too distant future, many countries will be interested in participating in green energy.
Especially in line with the Zero Waste program, currently several generators have used waste in the combustion process. In this way, he said, it can convert waste into money, so that net NTB can be realized.
Zulkieflimansyah also appreciated PLN's support for various changes in NTB Province, including the conversion program from fuel motorcycles to electric motorcycles carried out by SMK3 Mataram.
According to him, the success of various international activities in NTB is also inseparable from the role of PLN's support.
"On behalf of myself and the NTB Provincial Government, I am very grateful that PLN is always present together to welcome these changes. There will be no international event in NTB that will occur without the participation of PLN which is full of sacrifice and hard work in it. People talk about Mandalika, WSBK, MotoGP, MXGP which will not happen without the presence of PLN," he said.
General Manager of PLN West Nusa Tenggara Regional Main Unit (UIW NTB), Sudjarwo explained, PLN is committed to continuing to support the NTB Provincial Government in realizing NZE in 2050. Through a joint agreement, it is hoped that it can reduce global emissions and support the development of EBT in NTB.
PLN is currently continuing to increase cooperation with all parties in developing EBT and energy transitions. One of them is the transition from the use of coal fuel to biomass for additional environmentally friendly co-firing.
"At the Jeranjang PLTU, we have added rice husks, sawdust which is quite high in calories. At the West Sumbawa PLTU, we have also tested co-firing using corncobs and are currently preparing everything for the continuity of its use," Djarwo said in his statement, Thursday, December 29.
Djarwo hopes that the cooperation can continue to accelerate the energy transition and encourage the use of environmentally friendly energy. In NTB, said Djarwo, there is a total power of 41 Mega Watt (MW) which is already a clean energy plant.
"This Net Zero Emission program will be realized if a transition from a coal plant to a biomass generator. The potential for biomass in NTB is quite large, that's why we also need government support to jointly realize the energy transition from coal to biomass," said Djarwo.
PLN's collaboration with the Provincial Government in realizing Net Zero Emission is also by encouraging the acceleration of the development of electric vehicles. One of them is by adding two SPKLUs at Hotel Santika and MVP Coffee Company Grand Natura.
Since the electric vehicle ecosystem in NTB began in February 2021, which was followed by the inauguration of the SPKLU for the first time in January 2022, PLN NTB has built five SPKLU units, namely the NTB Governor's Office, the NTB Provincial Transportation Service Office, the NTB UIW PLN Office, the Selong PLN ULP Office, and SMKN 3 Mataram.
"The development of this SPKLU is a tangible manifestation of PLN's transformation in developing the electric vehicle ecosystem in NTB," he said.
