PAPUA - The new provisions for the Papua Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) for workers in Biak Numfor Regency in 2023 amounting to IDR 3,864,696 will be implemented simultaneously as of January 1, 2023.Acting Head of Biak Manpower Office, Esty Kbarek said the 2023 Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) regulation which increased by 8.3 percent or Rp302,764 to Rp3,864,696."With the enactment of the 2023 Papua UMP provisions, business entities operating in Biak Numfor Regency have to adjust this UMP regulation starting January 1," said Acting Head of the Biak Esty Kbarek Manpower Service to ANTARA in Biak, Thursday, December 29.He admitted, until now there have been no companies or business entities that have submitted objections or requests for postponement of the provisions of the Papua UMP in 2023.Acting Kadisnaker Esty Kbarek hopes that all workers' wages in Papua must be paid by referring to the provisions of the 2023 Papua UMP regulation."The Manpower Office received a report that there was a company in Biak Numfor Regency that had implemented the 2023 Papua UMP rules," said the former Head of Biak Public Relations.Acting Kadisnaker Esty Kbarek admitted that previously it had been submitted to business entities in Biak Numfor Regency regarding the provisions for the increase and new provisions of the Papua UMP which took effect on January 1, 2023.The determination of the 2023 UMP is the result of the Papua Province Wage Council session on Thursday, November 24, 2022.Based on data from the Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) has issued Minister of Manpower Regulation Number 18 of 2022 concerning Determination of Minimum Wage in 2023.One of the 2023 UMPs stipulates that the minimum wage value adjustment should not exceed 10 percent.Based on documents downloaded on the Ministry of Manpower's Legal Document and Information Network in Jakarta, the Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Ida Fauziyah has set the rules, on November 16, 2022, and promulgated on November 17, 2022.
