Garut Weather Is Not OK, Please Don't Go To The Beach And Mountain First

JAKARTA - The Regent of Garut, Rudy Gunawan, asked tourists to avoid going to beach and mountain tourist attractions. The reason is, before the turn of the year, the weather is not good.

"We do not recommend going to the beach and mountains, because based on the BMKG report the weather conditions are extreme before and after the turn of the year, so it is recommended to travel in urban areas that are considered safer," said Rudy Gunawan, Thursday, December 29, quoted from Antara.

He said that the current sea conditions are quite strong, so there should be no activities at sea because they are considered dangerous.

The Garut Regency Government, he said, had given a ban and was also alerted by the Mobile Brigade Unit, the Water Police Unit to provide security in the coastal area of the southern region of Garut.

"The wind is big, so the sea wind is big, so we can't. We have also banned it, there is also Brimob and Polair, we can't, we have banned it," he said.

The Regent has also conveyed to the Garut BPBD regarding the threat of weather that could endanger tourists to mountainous and marine areas.

"We have conveyed that BPBD, climbing mountains should be avoided now, going to the sea is also avoided," he said.

He advised people who want to travel to Garut Regency during the New Year holiday season to visit tourist attractions in the urban area of Garut.

According to him, tourist areas in Garut are close to urban areas, including the Situ Bagendit tourist attraction in Banyuresmi District, and Cipanas in Tarogong Kaler District.

"Yes, if you travel, you can go to this area, city, Bagendit," he said.

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) of West Java Climatology Station predicts that various cities and districts in the provinces will be hit by extreme weather before and after the New Year's Eve.

Head of West Java Climatology Station Indra Gustari in Bandung, Wednesday (28/12) said that in the next week, it is predicted that there will still be several phenomena that affect the addition of water vapor and or cloud formation as well as the increase in rainfall in parts of West Java.

On Thursday (29/12), according to him, there are 24 cities and regencies in West Java that have the potential to be hit by very heavy to extreme rain that can be accompanied by lightning or lightning and strong winds.

Then on Friday (30/12), according to him, the extreme weather is predicted to hit 25 cities and regencies. Then on Saturday (31/12) or New Year's Eve 2023, according to him, it is predicted that there will be 21 cities and regencies that have the potential to be hit by extreme weather.

Meanwhile, on Sunday (1/1/2023), according to him, it is predicted that there will be 14 regencies and cities that will be hit by the extreme weather rain.
