Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi forbade his citizens to hold motorized convoys in the City of Heroes on New Year's Eve 2023.
"New Year's Eve can't be convoys. No Brong exhaust. No blowing trumpets that are traded, if the trumpet itself is okay, it's clear because we are still going through the pandemic," said the mayor in a press release by the city government in Surabaya, East Java, Thursday 29 December.
The prohibition of holding convoys on New Year's Eve is contained in a circular regarding the provisions for the implementation of the 2022 Christmas and 2023 New Year celebrations aimed at realizing the security and peace of the City of Surabaya.
The mayor also forbade Surabaya residents to turn on firecrackers that risk causing explosions and fires on New Year's Eve 2023.
"Precisions that are allowed to fireworks, continue the usual firecrackers. So if the fireworks are allowed," he said.
The Surabaya City Government circular also contains provisions regarding recreational and public entertainment business activities (RHU) ahead of the turn of the year.
According to the provisions, recreational and entertainment business activities can be carried out until 02.00 WIB on January 1, 2023.
"The RHU already has a deadline. That's why I convey to the Satpol PP to be socialized, if it violates, it's closed for a week. The sanctions are closed, if the RHU violates," said the mayor.
In addition, he continued, the Peduli Protect application must be used in recreational activities and general entertainment and health protocols must be carried out in these activities.
The Surabaya City Government circular also regulates the implementation of hotel accommodation business activities as well as restaurants/restaurants and/or cafes.
On New Year's Eve, owners, managers, and business people who accommodate hotels as well as restaurants/restaurants and/or cafes are not allowed to hold large activities that present many people, require the use of the Peduli Protect application, and comply with health protocols.
Public places such as food stalls, street vendor outlets, hawker stalls, and similar places are allowed to open with maximum visitors of 100 percent of the capacity of the place provided that health protocols are strictly enforced.
At tourism sites and tourist attractions, activities may also be carried out with a maximum of 100 percent of visitors from the capacity of the place provided that the Peduli Protect application is used and health protocols are implemented.
Managers of tourist attractions are also asked to periodically check the safety/safety of facilities and rides of the game.
