Police Allegedly Aniaya ODGJ At The Lembata Police, NTT Police Chief Promise Will Investigate
JAKARTA - East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Police Chief Inspector General Johanis Asadoma promised to follow up on cases of alleged mistreatment of members of the National Police at the Lembata Police against one person with mental disorders (ODGJ).
"I have not received the report regarding the alleged abuse by members of the National Police in Lembata. If it is already there, I will follow up," Johanis promised in Kupang, Wednesday, December 28.
This he revealed regarding the alleged case of abuse by a number of police officers against ODGJ in Lembata Regency which went viral in NTT.
The former Head of the Police Hubinter Division will also examine a number of these individuals to find out why they did this.
"I ask that members on duty in the NTT region not to commit violence against the people," he said again, quoted from Antara.
The Head of Public Relations of the NTT Police, Kombes Pol Ariasandy, said that he had received the information, but his party was still waiting for the results of the investigation by the local police to their members.
"The case is currently being handled by the Lembata Police. We are waiting for the progress of the fingerprint investigation," he said via text message.
Previously, the family of the victim of the persecution named Efri Ofong had complained to the NTT Police Chief via WhatsApp messages whose numbers were obtained when the NTT Police Chief distributed his numbers.
In the short message, Efri Ofong regretted the brutal actions carried out by a number of police officers in the area.
His party has also conducted a post-mortem on the victim and has reported the case to the local police in the hope that it can be handled immediately.
