Atletico Madrid Disadvantaged Away From Barcelona, Diego Simeone Feeling Failed To Become A Coach

JAKARTA - Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone admits he has failed. He felt he had disappointed the players.

Simeone believes Atletico Madrid have a very talented squad. However, they are currently far behind in the race for the Spanish La Liga title this season.

Currently Barcelona lead with 37 points, with Simeone's side trailing 24 points in fifth place.

"We have a great squad, there are four players in the World Cup final," Simeone said, as quoted by Stats Performer.

"Maybe what doesn't give anything is me a coach. We have a great squad. I have to develop so they can level up in La Liga," he continued.

Simeone said the current squad is almost the same as when they won the Spanish La Liga in the 2020-2021 season. Only Kieran Trippier and Luis Suarez are no longer together in the team.

"The La Liga starter base is here. There is (Angel) Correa, (Yannick) Carrasco, Joao (Felix), (Jose) Gimenez. Then we added (Antoine) Griezmann. The coach is the one who failed more than anything else," he said.

This is what makes him less dizzy thinking about the January transfer market. Instead, he is more focused on making the key players fit and on fire again.

"We have proven it for years and we will continue to do it," said Simeone.
