Once Again Coordinating Minister Luhut For OTT Criticism: Later He Said 'He Said Great Countries But Still OTT Only'

JAKARTA - Once again, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan criticized the arrest operation. Luhut compared what happened in developed countries when there were almost no more OTTs.

As a reminder, the silent operation that was routinely carried out by the KPK was indeed insinuated by Luhut some time ago. He said, OTT is not a good method. According to him at that time, the best solution was to implement digitization

"Digitalization builds a system that we cannot do things we don't want. Because dignified countries, developed countries build a digitalization system," he said at the 2022 Green Port Awards which was monitored online in Jakarta, Wednesday, December 28, quoted from Antara.

Luhut gave an example of digitalization that has been implemented in the port sector where now there are no more vendors paying in cash.

"Everything has been digitized. So it will reduce corruption, reduce inefficiency, also reduce OTT-OTT, which has been busy talking about lately," he added.

Furthermore, Luhut said that currently the world has been really controlled by technology. He also invites stakeholders at ports, in particular, to work seriously and continue to build a digitalization system.

"It's not a matter of daring not to dare to catch OTT, yes, if it makes OTT, I think it's good, but if it continues like that, we will become a country, what are people saying later. 'This country is said to be great but still OTT' why? It means that our system is not good," he said.

Luhut said that the government is currently continuing to build digitalization in various sectors to reduce opportunities for corruption. According to him, the digital system will ward off the opening of opportunities for disgraceful acts.

"Actually, we don't want our country to enter an OTT country. If we all look at developed countries with dignity, there are almost no more OTT ones. Why is that possible, because the system is good. Now we are building a system so that there will be no more people involved in these disgraceful actions," he said.

The development of a digital ecosystem, Luhut continued, will also encourage efficiency. One of them is the implementation of a green and smart port in a number of ports in Indonesia.

He also targets that as many as 149 ports in Indonesia will be able to implement environmentally friendly and digitally integrated ecosystems by 2024 following the 14 ports that have implemented them this year.

"This is building a state ecosystem so that this country does not become a drama country. Drama because you are happy to see OTT-OTT people. Because our ecosystem is not good. Now the ecosystem is built. So don't make perceptions, cut into what the government wants to do. The government wants to make efficiency with digitization, earlier build a smart port, build a green port. This is important," he said.
