TSMC Starting Production Of 3nm Chip This Sunday, Claimed For The IPhone 15

JAKARTA - Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) is reportedly ready to start mass production of 3nm (nanometer) chips as early as this week. The first company to enjoy the world's most advanced chip technology is Apple.

From the report, it is claimed that all new Apple chips will come with the latest technology in 2023. The upcoming chip M2 Pro will be the first to take advantage of 3nm's TSMC technology.

Then, followed by Apple's third generation silicon, the M3 and A17 Bionic chips for the iPhone 15. The M2 Pro chip is planned to be embedded for the updated MacBook Pro and Mac Mini.

Apple currently uses TSMC's 4nm chip in the A16 Bionic that supports the iPhone 14 Pro series, and is expected to switch to 3nm chips in next-generation models.

Quoted from various sources, Wednesday, December 28, according to rumors, TSMC plans to hold a ceremony at the South Taiwan Science Park tomorrow.

The event is to celebrate the start of mass production of 3nm chips. The company will also highlight its plans to expand production of 3nm chips to other partners.

Even so, TSMC was quite late at the 3nm party, its competitor Samsung started production of the 3nm semiconductor about 6 months ago in June, and launched the world's first 3nm chip on July 25.

Then, Samsung sent the first batch of 3nm chips just a month later. However, Apple doesn't seem impressed by Samsung for continuing its collaboration with TSMC.
