The State Budget Kuras Rp2,065 T, Jokowi When Promulgated The Sadawarna Dam: Watch Out For Indramayu Not Upgrading Padnya Production!

JABAR - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated the Sadawarna Dam in Cibogo District, Subang Regency, West Java, Tuesday 27 December

"This color Sada Dam is the 33rd dam that we have inaugurated for 8 years, we have started construction, and the construction of the Sadawarna Reservoir which began in 2018 today has been completed and will be inaugurated soon," said Jokowi at the location of the Sadawarna Dam, Subang, West Java (West Java), Tuesday 27 December.

Present at the inauguration were First Lady Iriana Jokowi, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono, Governor of West Java Ridwan Kamil, and other relevant state officials.

"This reservoir spent a budget of IDR 2.065 trillion, not a small amount of money, so if the reservoir is already there (but) Indramayu doesn't increase his rice production, watch out!" said Jokowi.

The Sadawarna Dam is known to stem the Cipunagara River Basin (DAS) which crosses three districts, namely Subang, Sumedang, and Indramayu, with a length of 137 kilometers, flowing from Mount Bukit Tunggul in the North Bandung Mountains and emptying into the Java Sea.

"Because we know Indramayu is the largest contributor to surplus (rice) number one in Indonesia and we hope (rice production) will not decrease, but increase as previously the Governor conveyed from 1.3 million tons to 1.8 million tons for Indramayu district," he said.

President Jokowi thanked Sumedang Regent Dony Ahmad Munir and all the people in Sumedang who had given up their water to irrigate the fields in Indramayu.

"Earlier, the Regent conveyed his sincerity, sir, and this reservoir with an inundation area of 680 hectares can irrigate approximately 4,280 hectares of rice fields below," said the President.

President Jokowi hopes that with the construction of reservoirs throughout the country, the productivity of rice plants and horticultural commodities can increase.

"And our food security is getting better, our food independence is getting better, that is the main goal of building reservoirs, apart from reservoirs, there are also those used for tourism, power plants and raw water supply," he said.

The Sadawarna Dam can supply irrigation water in rice fields covering an area of 4,284 hectares, as flood control, raw water suppliers of 1.2 cubic meters per second, generate 2 Megawatts of electricity, and as one tourist destination.

With an inundation area of 720 hectares, the dam is expected to reduce flooding in Subang, Sumedang, and Indramayu, which the Cipunagara River passes to 26.9 cubic meters per second.

The Sadawarna Dam is 933 meters long and 40 meters high and is being worked on by PT Wijaya Karya KSO and PT Nindya Karya KSO.

"The Regent of Sumedang said the benefits of irrigation water are not much to Sumedang... Therefore I give two things, first we provide compensation of Rp. 100 billion for Sumedang Regency from West Java province to build tourism, the second compensation I pray to enter heaven first because we have sacrificed and this is the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia," said West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil.
