Failed To Add Champion Belt Collection, Hebi Marapu: Not The Result I Want

JAKARTA Indonesian boxer Hebi Marapu failed to add to his collection of championship belts from the Intercontinental IBA lightweight after the series against Al Toyogon at the Johor International Boxing Championship.

The two boxers played for ten rounds on the evening of Sunday, December 25. The three judges gave a split draw assessment so that the Intercontinental IBA lightweight championship belt remained vacant.

"This is not the result I wanted, but this is the reality and I accept this result," Hebi said after the fight.

"I've fought as well as possible in the ring tonight, but Toyogon is a tough opponent and put up a decent fight," he added.

Hebi currently holds the WBC Asia Continental championship belt. The title was not contested in yesterday's fight.

"Now is the time for me to return to training. We will see what my shortcomings were in yesterday's fight and make improvements so that I am more prepared to face all types of opponents next year. I will return in better condition," said the boxer from West Sumba.

Hebi plans to fight three times in 2023. One of the fights he will play is trying to defend his WBC Asia Continutal title.

"From our side, it is not the expected result and this is a small stumbling block in our plan. However, I believe Hebi will come back even better next year," said XBC CEO Sportech Urgyen Rinchen Sim.
