53 BTS In East Manggarai Regency Sudah Beroperasi, Menkominfo Targetkan Q1 2023 Rampung!
JAKARTA - In the first quarter (Q1) 2023, the government through the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kemenkominfo) will complete the construction of a Base Transceiver Station (BTS) in East Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
Menkominfo Johnny G. Plate menyatakan saat ini sudah 53 BTS beroperasi dari 66 unit yang dibangun di wilayah tersebut, dan akan mempercepat pembangunannya di Q1 2023.
"Of the 66 BTS that were built, there were 53 BTS that were already on the water. There are still 13 BTS that are still in process, it will be completed no later than the first quarter of 2023 so that later the BTS construction that has been completed we hope will be used properly," said Johnny recently at the USO 4G BTS Infrastructure Utilization and Internet Access to the Telecommunications and Information Accessibility Agency (BAKTI) of the Ministry of Communication and Information, in NTT.
This BTS development, Johnny said, is to provide access to 4G signal networks in all villages or sub-districts of the leading, outermost, and underdeveloped (3T) areas in Indonesia, especially in East Manggarai Regency.
According to Johnny, BTS will become a downstream infrastructure that will allow people to take advantage of upstream infrastructure in the form of a broad band network of fiber optic cables.
"We want to advise that upstream infrastructure development, whether it's broad band development through fiber optics, has been carried out massively, including in East Nusa Tenggara Province, which is more than 600 kilometers," said Johnny.
Johnny said that more than 600 kilometers of fiber optic cable networks have been built by crossing the provinces of NTT and NTB through the Sape Strait in West Manggarai.
"The network is connected to international routes in Perth, Australia for the Southern region of Earth," Johnny explained.
In addition, the Ministry of Communication and Information has also prepared the SATRIA-I Satellite and the Satellite Hot Backup to support the provision of internet access for schools and health services.
"Gateway or the earth station is almost finished being built on Timor Island, Kupang Regency, Amfoang District, which will serve the entire province," said Johnny.
