The Jakarta Cathedral Church Prepares 2,180 Seats For The Christmas Mass Congregation

JAKARTA - The Jakarta Cathedral Church has prepared a capacity of 2,180 seats to accommodate congregants to participate in three Christmas Masses.

"We predict that the prepared seats will be sufficient," said Public Relations of the Jakarta Archdiocese and the Susyana Suwadie Cathedral Church in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Sunday, December 25.

In detail, in the main church room there are 800 seats available, then next to the church, namely at Plaza Maria to Goa Maria can accommodate 550 congregations.

Furthermore, the committee also provided tents in the front hall and behind reached about 800 seats and several other rooms were also prepared.

Congregations who attend mass, he said, first register through the local church website, namely Salurasa.id and congregants who have not registered can show their Identity Card (KTP) at the registration desk.

"Today looks quite good at 2,180 even if according to the registration of the belarasa.id page it's not 100 percent of that capacity, maybe later it will come again who brings an ID card," he added.

The committee has opened 100 percent capacity, especially in the church, in line with the easing of regulations on limiting community activities because positive cases of COVID-19 have been sloping.

Even so, the committee required all congregations and officers to implement health protocols, including by still wearing masks during worship.

This Sunday's Christmas Day celebration was held three Masses, which began with the Pontiifical Mass at 08.30 WIB, the Family Mass at 11.00 WIB and finally the Christmas Mass at 17.00 WIB.

The Pontifinal mass begins with a gathering and continues with the Ekaristi celebration led by Cardinal Ignatius Suharyo and the curria of the Archdiocese of Jakarta.

Masses can be attended live and online, especially for congregants who are unable to attend because they have comorbidities.

This year's Christmas theme from KWI or the Conference of the Mayor of the Indonesian Church and the PGI of the Communion of the Church of the Indonesian Church is 'Pulang mereka ke negerinya melalui jalan lain'," katanya.
