Belitung Regent Ensures That The 2022 Christmas Celebrations Run Conducively

JAKARTA - The Regent of Belitung Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, Sahani Saleh ensured that the 2022 Christmas celebrations carried out by Christians in the area ran smoothly and conducively.

"We ensure that the implementation of the Christmas celebration runs safely, peacefully, peacefully, and conducively," he said in Tanjung Pandan, quoted from Antara, Sunday, December 25.

The Regent conveyed this after reviewing the implementation of the Christmas Mass with the Belitung Forkopimda staff, namely the Belitung Police Chief AKBP Tris Lesmana Zeviansyah, Dandim 0414 Belitung Lieutenant Colonel (Inf) Hairil Achmad, and Danlanud HAS Hanandjoeddin Lt. Col. (Nav) Rudy Hartono in a number of churches on Saturday (24/12) night.

The Regent is grateful for the implementation of the Christmas Mass in the area and to this day it has run smoothly without any disturbances in security and order and other threats.

"Including the absence of turmoil or socio-economic threats. We hope that until the New Year celebrations remain conducive like this," he said.

He said this could not be separated from the security that had been carried out either from elements of the TNI/Polri and community organizations who had participated in maintaining security and order at Christmas Eve in the area.

"All of this cannot be separated from the monitoring of Bhabinkamtibmas, Babinsa, and Satpol PP who are continuously reporting on the development of the situation ahead of the Christmas celebration," he said.

Sahani added that the implementation of the 2022 Christmas Mass was more crowded than the previous year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He appreciated the congregation in carrying out worship activities while still complying with health protocols such as wearing masks and other health protocols.

"Even though it rains, it is more crowded and the process is still running well," he said.
