The DPR Asks The Police To Make SURE The Safety Of The Church Ahead Of Christmas Worship
JAKARTA - Commission III of the DPR asked the Indonesian National Police (Polri) to strengthen coordination regarding security and public order operations (Kamtibmas) ahead of the 2022 Christmas celebrations and worship. "Please ensure maximum security for churches. In the future, early detection to anticipate threats and any disturbances that may arise must be properly mitigated," said Member of Commission III of the DPR, Moh Rano Alfath, in his statement, Saturday, December 24. Rano hopes that the security of Christmas 2022 and New Year 2023 will be better than the previous year. In particular, securing churches that will later be filled by Christians to undergo Christmas Mass services.
"We have to make sure to give our Christian friends a sense of security so that we can carry out services and mass in a safe, comfortable and peaceful manner," said Rano.
The PKB politician also reminded law enforcement officials to further increase their alertness and vigilance after acts of terror such as the bombing that took place at the Astana Anyar Police, Bandung, West Java, some time ago.
"Christmas and New Year holidays are most prone to acts of terrorism and radicalism. Therefore, the apparatus is obliged to increase their vigilance and strengthen synergies not only in big cities but also in regions," said Rano.
The Banten electoral district legislator also appealed to the community to work together with local security forces by listening to and complying with policies from the authorities. Especially on New Year's Eve celebrations.
"I understand that the enthusiasm of the community in welcoming the Christmas and New Year holidays this time is quite high. For the sake of safety and mutual comfort, I also urge the public to always comply with regulations or procedures," he concluded.
