Qantas, Who Flew From Changi-Heathrow Release Code '7700' And Emergency Landing In Azerbaijan

JAKARTA - The Qantas plane flying from Singapore to London was forced to make an emergency landing in Azerbaijan due to an error in the indicator in the cockpit.

The QF1 flight departed from Terminal 1 of Changi Airport at 00.44 on Friday. This aircraft previously experienced flight delays for 49 minutes.

The plane was scheduled to arrive at Heathrow Airport at 14.15 p.m. the same day, reported by Channel News Asia, Friday 23 December.

Flight radar shows the plane bound for Heathrow has been airborne for about nine hours after departing from Changi Airport. Suddenly the plane turned 180 degrees near the Georgia border.

According to the Swedish Flightradar24 website, the Airbus 380 issued a 7700 code of communication for an emergency before making an unscheduled landing at Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku.

The plane landed safely at around 11.07 a.m. and was greeted by emergency services on the runway.

Our flight from Singapore to London has made an unscheduled landing at Baku Airport in Azerbaijan after the pilot received an intermittent error indicator in the cockpit, a Qantas spokesman said.

"Insinyur will inspect the plane before continuing its journey."

The airport said the plane carrying 356 passengers asked for a sudden landing due to smoke appearing in the cargo compartment.
