School Holidays, Akap Bus Ticket Prices At Pulo Gebang Terminal Up 20 Percent

JAKARTA - The ticket price for inter-provincial intercity buses (AKAP) at Pulo Gebang Terminal has increased by about 20 percent compared to the previous one before the Christmas and New Year holidays.

Head of Pulo Gebang Terminal Bernad Pasaribu said the increase in ticket prices was due to high demand because it coincided with school holidays.

"The cause is due to the limited availability of'seat' and high demand due to the holiday period for school children," Bernad said as quoted by Antara, Friday, December 23.

Bernad added that the increase in AKAP bus ticket prices had occurred since a few days ago, especially for executive class buses.

"The increase in ticket prices, according to the results of monitoring in the field, is not much, a maximum of 20 percent," said Bernad.

Bernad said the increase in the price of AKAP bus tickets for the executive class was determined by each autobus (PO). In contrast to AKAP bus tickets, economic class can set a threshold by the government.

He said the highest increase in AKAP bus prices occurred for majoring in a number of areas in West Java with an increase range of Rp. 20,000 to Rp. 50 thousand.

"The close range is actually a higher increase from long distances," said Bernad.

Furthermore, Bernad said that although ticket prices had gone up, until now there had been no surge in passenger departures which were still at 1000s per day.

However, his party has anticipated a surge in passenger departures at the Pulo Gebang Integrated Terminal by alerting an integrated post.

Then carry out safety inspections (ramp checks) or bus road-worthy tests, as well as health checks to ensure all bus crews who are in charge are in good health and do not use drugs before driving.
