Pep Guardiola Puji Kevin De Bruyne After Restricting Liverpool Via Drama 5 Goals At The Etihad Stadium
JAKARTA - Manchester City qualified for the quarter-finals of the English League Cup or Carabao Cup. The top eight ticket was won after beating Liverpool through a five-goal drama at the Etihad Stadium.
City won with a score of 3-2 over their guests on Friday, December 23 in the morning WIB.
The Citizens' three goals were scored by Erling Haalang (10th minute), Riyad Mahrez (47), and Nathan Ake (58). While the Reds' goals were scored by Fabio Carvalho ( 20th minute) and Mohamed Salah (48).
City manager Pep Guardiola praised Kevin De Bruyne's performance. The Belgian scored two assists in this match.
"Kevin, as he plays with a burning passion in himself, he will find himself in that spirit. An extraordinary player," Guardiola told Sky Sports.
"How many years has Kevin been here? Seven, eight years? I think there are so many ghals. He's really a legend."
"I always encourage him to find this spirit. In an important game, when he has it, he can't be stopped."
Apart from De Bruyne, Guardiola also praised the performance of young Rico Lewis. The 18-year-old right-back made 89 touches and won five duels with Liverpool players.
"He is 18 years old, playing against Liverpool with the big stars ahead, and the way he played with the ball and without the ball. We were lucky to have this player for the next decade," said Pep Guardiola.
