Call Not Willing To Compromise War In The Face Of The US Congress, President Zelensky: Ukraine Will Not Be Happy

JAKARTA - Welcoming Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, as he entered the room at the United States Congress on Wednesday, after meeting President Joe Biden at the White House.

Three members held the big flag of Ukraine during the loud applause. President Zelensky seemed to hold back the emotion of the warm remarks given by the US Congress.

This is President Zelensky's first overseas visit since Russia invaded its country on February 24.

"It is a great honor for me to be at the US Congress and speak to you and all Americans," President Zelensky said.

"Against all the scenarios of disaster and horror, Ukraine does not fall. Ukraine lives and develops," he continued.

"We beat Russia in the battle for the world's mind," President Zelensky stressed.

President Zelensky further said that the assistance provided by the United States was not charity, but investing in global security.

"There will be no compromise in efforts to end the war. Ukraine will never give up," President Zelensky said.

He said the conflict shows how democracy around the world is being tested and the results will form a world from generation to generation.

"This struggle will determine which world our children and grandchildren will live and then their children and grandchildren," said President Zelensky.

"This battle cannot be ignored, hoping the oceans or something else will provide protection."

"The world is too connected and dependent on each other to allow someone to step aside, and at the same time feel safe as such a battle continues."

On the occasion, President Zelensky repeated his appreciation and gratitude to all the people of the United States for the support given to his country, saying the assistance was critical to defending Ukraine from the Russian invasion.

"Your support is very important. We have artillery, yes, thank you. We have it. Is that enough? To be honest, not really," he said.

Citing former US President Franklin D Roosevelt's remarks, the Ukrainian leader said: "The American people with their true power will win until an absolute victory. I tell you, the Ukrainian people will also win, of course."

After his speech, President Zelensky then handed over the flag given by the Bakhmut City frontline defenders he visited on Tuesday, to US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
