The Incentive Rules For Electric Vehicles Are Not Final, Menperin: Still Being STUDIED And Calculated By The Government

JAKARTA - The Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, emphasized that there has been no decision regarding the provision of incentives or subsidies for electric vehicles. According to him, the plan is still being discussed by the government.

"Now it's being studied and calculated, okay. All of these are asking about electric car incentives, which are being studied by the government," Agus said in Jakarta, quoted Wednesday, December 21.

When asked further about the timing of the discussion and the target of its implementation, Agus reiterated that the government is still reviewing the incentive rules.

"Anyway, about electric cars later. We are discussing it, it is being studied by the government," he said.

Previously, Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said the government was finalizing incentive rules for buying cars or electric motors.

This incentive will be given to buyers of electric vehicles, both cars and motorcycles, which are produced by companies that have factories in Indonesia. The incentive is expected to provide various benefits for the development of the electric vehicle industry.

"Now, the Government is calculating these incentives. These incentives are very important and structured after studying various rules from countries that are relatively advanced in the use of EVs (electric vehicles)," he said in Brussels, Belgium, Wednesday, December 14.

According to the plan, the incentives to be provided for the purchase of electric cars are around Rp. 80 million, and for hybrid-based electric cars around Rp. 40 million.

Meanwhile, for the type of two-wheeled vehicle, the government will provide incentives of around Rp. 8 million. Then, the conversion motorbike into an electric motorcycle gets an incentive of around Rp. 5 million.
