Yudo Margono Is The TNI Commander, Jokowi: Guard The Netrality Of The TNI During The 2024 General Election
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has appointed Admiral Yudo Margono as TNI Commander replacing General Andika Perkasa. There are a number of tasks that await Yudo, one of which is safeguarding state sovereignty.
"I have ordered the TNI Commander to first safeguard the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia. Then also, maintain, maintain, and increase public trust in the TNI, which is currently the highest," Jokowi said after inaugurating Yudo at the State Palace in Jakarta, Monday, December 19.
"This trust must be maintained with professionalism within the TNI, it must be improved," he continued.
It didn't stop there, Jokowi also ordered Yudo to maintain TNI neutrality during the 2024 election. Don't let them participate in politics in the country.
"The most important thing is to maintain the neutrality of the TNI so as not to be attracted into practical politics," he said.
In addition, Jokowi also wants the TNI and Polri to continue to synergize ahead of the 2024 General Election. They must work together to maintain the conduciveness of the nation.
"Because this is also important. Political stability, security stability is important in the context of the development of our country. In the context of economic growth, we are in uncertain situations due to global uncertainty," he said.
As previously reported, President Jokowi appointed Admiral Yudo Margono as TNI Commander today, Monday, December 19. Yudo replaces General Andika Perkasa who entered retirement this December.
The inauguration was held at the State Palace in Jakarta and attended by a number of invited guests. Among them, the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri, the Chair of the Maharani DPRP, to the TNI Chief of Staff. Also present was the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo at the inauguration.
