PetroChina Gas Pipes Implemented And Imposing 8 Naturals Injured, SKK Migas Intervened
The gas pipeline belonging to PetroChina in Betara District, Tanjungjabung Regency (Tanjab) Barat, reportedly exploded and injured 8 workers.
The accident occurred when the workers had finished repairing the 12th Trunk Line in the NEB#9 area located in Pematang Buluh Village, Betara District, West Tanjung Jabung Regency on Sunday, December 18 at 01.45 WIB.
Jabung Field Manager Arief Hari Suseno said that currently PetroChina is conducting a field investigation to find the cause of the accident. Until now, there has been no environmental impact.
"This incident also has no impact on the daily production of average oil and gas from the Jabung Working Area," he said in a statement received by VOI, Monday, December 19.
As of Sunday evening at 20.00 WIB, he continued, all the injured workers were in stable condition and had received the necessary medical treatment in Jambi. Six workers will be taken to Jakarta for further medical treatment on Monday 19 December, one person with minor injuries will continue treatment at the hospital in Jambi, and one other worker has been allowed to go home and does not require further treatment at the hospital.
Head of SKK Migas Representative Office of South Sumatra, Anggono Mahendrawan, said that currently, strict supervision is being carried out over the current incident, and will continue to monitor developments from field investigations.
"We continue to monitor developments in the field, as far as we know from the field team that the activities carried out by the PetroChina team are in accordance with the proper procedures and in accordance with applicable regulations," said Anggono.
Currently representatives of SKK Migas and PetroChina management have visited the field and have seen firsthand the condition of the injured workers. "Alhamdulillah, everything is currently in stable condition and is receiving very good treatment," continued Anggono.
He also mentioned that he would tighten detailed and thorough supervision of all activities carried out by Cooperation Contract Contract Contract Contractors (KKKS) so that incidents like this are not expected to happen again.
"Because of this, in terms of keeping production stable, all upstream oil and gas activities are required to continue to pay attention to work and environmental safety," concluded Anggono.
