Japanese Ambassador: Defense Cooperation With The Republic Of Indonesia CONTINUES To Strengthen

JAKARTA - The Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia, Kanasugi Kenji, explained that his country's defense cooperation with Indonesia has made significant progress in recent years.

Ambassador Kenji while speaking at the 68th anniversary of the Japanese Self-Defense Forces held by the Japanese Embassy in Jakarta, said there had been significant progress in defense and security cooperation in recent years, as reflected in exchanges at high levels of all branches of the military.

He also gave an example of the visit of the leadership of the Japanese army and air force to Indonesia, as well as the visit of the leadership of the Indonesian navy to Japan, Friday, December 16.

In addition, he also mentioned that one of the most symbolic achievements for defense cooperation between the two countries was Japan's participation for the first time in a joint Super Garuda Shield exercise, which is a multilateral joint military exercise.

Ambassador Kenji was present at the opening ceremony of the event.

"I see for myself the strong relationship between our military and we continue to be committed to strengthening this commitment and cooperation," he said as quoted by Antara.

Furthermore, he also said that the defense cooperation was also taking place at the education level, where Japan's National Defense Academy had received TNI cadets for several years, including one of the doctoral students from Indonesia this year.

Indonesia is a very important partner for us. We have the same values as a maritime country which is located at the Indo-Pacific strategic point," he also said.
