Therefore, Fofana decided to play for an amateur club called Drancy who survived in the fifth division of the French League. While playing there, Fofana also asked for a side job as a pizza delivery man

"I need to find a job with a good salary. It's hard to imagine right now, but at that time I was delivering pizza. It was funny and it ran for a few months," said Fofana.

"However, I like to remember it. It keeps me grounded," said Fofana, who has Mali and Ivory Coast blood.

Fofana also shared that when faced with difficult times, the things that came to mind actually wanted to give up from football. He had intended to end his career in football and preferred to focus on his studies.

"Six months before the preparatory exam to college, I said I quit (playing football). I focused on school," said the 23-year-old.

This uncertain situation made Fofana reportedly reject Strasbourg's proposal in 2017. However, he finally changed his mind and accepted the offer to play at the French League's highest caste club.

The choice turned out to be right and was a leap in the continuation of his career. From Strasbourg, Fofana moved to AS Monaco in 2020 until now.

His consistent and slick appearance this season has even made Deschamps look at him. Fofana was then called up to the Les Bleus squad to appear in the 2022 World Cup, France are now just one step away from winning against Argentina in the final on Sunday, 18 December.
