The Tourism Sector Has A Potential Revenue Of IDR 3,000 Trillion, Menparekraf Please Collaborate In The Gernas BBI And BBWI Programs

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno is optimistic that the collaboration between the Proudly Made in Indonesia National Movement (Gernas BBI) and Proud to Travel in Indonesia (BBWI) will be able to revive the tourism sector and the creative economy in Indonesia.

"If we succeed in marrying Gernas BBI and BBWI, later the contribution of domestic products to this economy will make us hosts'' in their own country, including success in achieving Indonesia Gold in 2045," Sandiaga said in a written statement, Tuesday, December 13.

Sandiaga said BBWI is a movement that activates and encourages the mobility of domestic tourists (wisnus) with a target of 1.4 billion movements.

The hope, he said, is that this movement can activate and grow creative economy centers in tourist destinations in Indonesia.

"If we look at many domestic tourists who have been choosing to travel abroad because they do not recognize superior destinations (Indonesia)," said Sandiaga.

He also mentioned that apart from Bali, there are five super priority destinations, including Lake Toba, Borobudur, Mandalika, Likupang, and Labuan Bajo.

"In addition, there are leading destinations such as Banyuwangi, Tanjung Lesung, Wakatobi, to Raja Ampat," added Sandiaga.

Menparekraf said, by appointing these destinations as the destination for the movement of domestic tourists, it is hoped that it can generate more than Rp. 3,000 trillion in revenue from the tourism sector.

"So that we can continue to develop a total of 45 million jobs produced by the tourism sector and the creative economy in the future. Because, traveling always consumes products (the creative economy) and we direct (to use) local products as a form of Proud Made in Indonesia," he explained.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of SOEs Kartika Wirjoatmodjo added, Gernas BBI, which was initiated by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and the Ministry of SOEs since 2020, has successfully digitized 21 million MSME actors and has generated a national goods expenditure figure of IDR 500 trillion.

"We hope that by the end of the year, the percentage of this program will continue to increase," he added.
